Description

This program with the Blaricum Music Festival Orchestra (BMFO) and Mathieu Herzog is all about fairy tales. The colourful and inventive way Ravel composed Mother Goose for piano and then later orchestrated it is sublime and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade (based on the One Thousand and One Nights tales) is an equal example of excellent orchestration (no wonder he wrote a book about orchestrating…). The Grieg Piano Concerto is a ‘gutsy’ piece but has many moments reminding us of his Peer Gynt music based on the Ibsen story. Konstantin Lifschitz will definitely manage to make all the magic colours of this fantastic piece come to life!
